Senior New Product Development Engineer

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Senior New Production Development Engineer.

​

Based in King’s Lynn, we are looking for applicants with experience in 3D CAD Design, and customer communication to help enhance our New Product Development Department in mould manufacture.

 

The work involves designing products and developing existing products to meet customer specifications using the latest in house and external standards.  As part of the role, you are expected to seek out opportunities for business improvement.

The Benefits

Starting salary of between £35,000 - £40,000 pa (Dependant on experience)

08:00 to 16:00 - Monday to Friday

​

33 days holiday - including Bank Holidays

​

Eligibility for-profit related bonus based on Company Performance

Eligibility for company pension scheme with employer contribution of 6%

Person Specification

Relevant degree, or equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering or Product Design.

A non-graduate with an equivalent blend of qualifications and increased experience would be considered

5 years experience in a product design/development, tool manufacturing, or a similar role

Key responsibilities
  • Responsible for the design and completion of products to specific customer requirements, using 3D CAD software, SolidWorks.

  • Understand customer needs, communicate, and liaise with customers throughout the complete design process

  • Be the process owner for 3D printing, machining, and 3D scanning techniques

  • Work as part of the technology team to solve development problems and deliver customer satisfaction

  • Produce reports and presentations to communicate design concerns and solutions to both internal and external customers

  • Work closely with, and produce documentation, for the production department to allow the manufacturing teams to efficiently produce the final product and its many complex components.

  • Work as a team to identify and implement continuous improvement processes for product design and manufacture, including standardisation.

  • Able to develop and extend our simulation capability for mould design.

Skills and competencies
  • The ideal candidate will hold experience in product development or a similar role.

  • Proficient in 3D modelling with CAD software, SolidWorks and surface modelling is preferable.

  • You will have a strong knowledge of product build materials, BOM’s, the expected company design quality standards and design process.

  • Previous experience in the development of information and associated files for CNC Machining

  • Customer focussed

  • Keen to progress to a manager position, and is able to take a broad view as well as demonstrate detailed thinking

  • Is able to understand and work with traditional mould design and modelling processes

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

  • Target driven and seeks to meet deadlines

  • Good planning and recording skills

  • Can demonstrate excellent accuracy and attention to detail

  • Strong verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Experienced in MS Office
