Time to Market Cell

The PCL Time to Market Cell is suitable for casting standard 3,4, and 5-part open-rim bowls and bidets, 3,4, and 5-part boxed rim or rimless bowls with a 2-part stick-on-rim process or any 2-part mould configuration. Two moulds of any configuration can be installed and cast on the machine at any one time.

This unique cell will support a reduction in time for the development of new models and moulds, ensuring customers can be in a position to deliver new product launches to market in a quicker time by utilising a more efficient NPD process.

The Time to Market Cell is also designed as a test machine to support work on production optimisations for machine and mould configuration, and development work on the ceramic process, including slip, cycle times and mould care. All is possible without any disruption to your daily production facilities.

New models and moulds successfully approved on the Time to Market Cell, can be transferred to PCL Multi-Station machines such as the PC570 and PCLite machines for 2-part moulds and a PCB machine for bowl moulds.

The PCL Time to Market Casting Cell, utilises 2, 3, 4 or 5 part moulds and can be configured to cast:

  • 3, 4 or 5 parts Open rim Bowls

  • 3, 4, or 5 part Box Rim Bowls with 2 part Stick On Rims

  • Bidets with optional 6th part

  • 2 Part Lavatories (single and double Cavity)

  • 2 Part Squat Pans (single and double cavity)

  • 2 Part Tank and cover (solid or drain cast)

  • 2 part Pedestals (single and double Cavity)

Benefits of the PCL Time to Market Hight Pressure Casting Cell

For customers preparing to take their first PCL Ceramics Industrial multi–High Pressure Casting Machine or existing customers who already have PCL Ceramics High Pressure Casting Equipment in operation:

  • Quick and easy installation at customer’s site.

  • First cast piece achievable within 48 hours of the new Time to Market Cell being connected to utilities and slip supply.

  • The ability to carry out high pressure casting new product development in-house without disruption to the daily production operations.

  • No downtime or disruption to existing production machines during a new product development project.

  • Ability to establish optimum machine, mould and process operations before transferring new product to a multi station industrial PCL Bowl machine.

  • Potential to prove new equipment and mould configurations that can be introduced as upgrades to a multi-station PCB Bowl machine.

  • Used as a facility to carry out casting slip development trials as a means of introducing new raw materials or modifying a casting slip setup.

  • Used as a facility to review and test processes with the aim of optimising casting cycle times

  • Used as a facility to review process procedures with the aim of achieving further improvements to casting yields.

  • Run performance trials for development of PCL moulds and mould materials.

  • Training of operational and safety procedures for operators

  • Can be used as a single cell production unit

  • A test facility for new moulds before transferring to an industrial multi station machine.

  • An Efficient and low risk approach to new product development with the option of collaboration with PCL Ceramics:

    • Phase 1 model and mould development created and tested at PCL Ceramics New Product Development facilities in England

    • Phase 2 After testing at PCL Ceramics the new mould is transferred to the customer site for final stage testing using the Time to Market Cell

    • Phase 3 On successful validation of a new product, smooth adaptation to an industrial multi-station PCL 2 part mould machine or PCB Bowl Machine

Our high-pressure casting machines

Two-Part

Our two-part mould casting machine range produces a full range of sanitaryware pieces. The PC570 and PC120 multi mould overhead beam systems can cast items in both vitreous and fine fireclay ranging from small wash basins to large shower trays.

Bowl

PCL has several bowl machines capable of producing the full range of WC bowls. Our PCB multi mould system offers the capability of producing 8 bowls in one cycle. Our revolutionary RotoBowl is a modular system and can produce both open and stuck on rim bowls on the same cell.

Upgrades

PCL can supply a number of machine upgrades to our casting systems to increase their flexibility and further improve productivity and ease of use.

Custom-Built

In addition to our standard range of machines PCL can design and build a machine to suit your specific casting requirements to an agreed specification.
