| Technical
ceramics cover a broad spectrum of activities and interests; each user has a
unique balance of requirements. |
|
| Generic
benefits of pressure-casting on synthetic moulds over traditional casting on
plaster can include: |
|
 |
Greater precision and reproducibility |
 |
Improved mould life |
 |
Elimination of dimensional changes due to ageing of plaster
moulds |
 |
Elimination of dimensional changes due to changeover of
plaster moulds |
 |
Reduced
factory area for casting |
 |
Improved purity |
 |
Improved manufacturing: |
| |
| |
no need to manufacture plaster moulds |
| |
reduced finishing |
| |
increased productivity |
| |
improved yields |
| |
opportunity for mechanisation |
|
|
|
| As well as fabricating the moulds, PCL develops and
manufactures its own microporous polymer technology. This brings about the
possibility of manipulating the functional properties of its moulds to match
specific applications. |
|
| Microporous polymer moulds are essentially self-supporting
filters. As well as pressure-casting tools, our moulds may, for example, find
application in capillary casting and electrophoretic forming (from water-based
slips) |
